Plot Finds/Clues

PLOT CLUES
March 2017 📁 Discovered by Akira Midousuji in the Retrospec building, one room remained open where there were some old files. These files were for the following people: Jyushimatsu Ono, Dante Sparda, Matt Miller, Machi Tobaye, and Irene Greenland. These files covered their (AU) histories in accurate detail to different degrees. On Matt's file a paperclipped note read, "we need to rewrite the following and start from a clean slate", signed by "Janet."

May 2017 ⏳ Discovered in the Recollé History Museum, a memory played before the eyes of Mohammed Abdul almost like viewing a video. The man in the video was one of the founders of the city, and the city's first mayor, giving his acceptance speech and making promises of industrializing the city to make it into something big and beautiful. The crowd for the most part seems to be into it, but there were several people in the crowd who weren't happy with this agenda. They appeared to be farmers and laborers, some of the first settlers and families in the city.

🚇 Discovered in the subway tunnels of Recollé, Togusa, Riku, and Ardyn began their exploration in the middle of Enprise and made their way south. The tracks appeared to be completely abandoned though clean (no garbage, spare debris, etc.) There were rats and bugs living underground, but specifically in the underground of Enprise they found the path to be straight and narrow. Further south, they found a fork in the road that leads to Apprassage and to Tisse. Following the Apprassage path, they found the walls of the tunnels marked with faded numbers that seemingly have no pattern to them. Following the Tisse path they found more strange symbols on the ground, one every fifty feet or so. There were clear exits both in Apprassage and in Tisse for them to get back to the main part of the city. As of June, scanning the QR codes has done nothing yet.

Later, Togusa and Cherche started from the police station and worked their way toward the center of town while finding the same beginnings of clean tracks, despite the bugs and rats that seemed to have congregated underground. The closer they worked toward the center of town though the more the tunnel seemed to be get lighter and lighter until it looked like they're walking into a clear and sunny day. Despite being underground, it led them to an area that looked like an open endless road. They followed the road, but strangely once they hit a point that designated they would be leaving Recollé, they plunged back into darkness and started at their beginning point again.

🌘 Discovered in the planetarium, Elda Marker gained access to the control room of the largest exhibit room. The room itself was clean and sparkly, labeled appropriately and all together a generally basic room. However, with a little exploring she discovered a layout of the northern hemisphere and the stars in the sky. There was one of the southern hemisphere as well. Both projections had their constellations and everything as one would find on earth. There were layouts for all of the planets (including Pluto) and finally she reached a projection that appears to be blank, tiny font saying "THE END." Further investigation led to the discovery of the desktop computer being empty but there were items in the trash bin. Or, rather, one item. A file. This file seemed to be empty but the label clearly says "ADDITIONAL" with the Retrospec logo on the folder itself, almost as though someone mass-erased whatever was there and then forgot to mass-erase the folder itself.

🏛 Discovered in the Mayor's office by Chloe, there is a room just off to the side and connected to the Mayor's office. For anyone who has ever visited the Mayor's office, they would have noticed a door on the back wall that the Mayor has always written off as being a closet. However, it has been discovered that there are rows and rows of filing cabinets. In the top drawer of one of the cabinets, strangely not locked, this drawer was filled with blueprints of buildings including the Recollé Art Museum, the Observatory, the Towers, and the Stardust. However, the most important thing found was a torn-off corner of a set of blueprints. The corner itself was ripped as if someone grabbed the plans and left in a hurry. On the backside of the piece of paper however was half of the Retrospec logo.

👻 Discovered by Ritsu Kageyama, largely in part thanks to his abilities to see/hear/speak to ghosts, a small group of ghosts appeared in the Recollé Woods. The ghosts appeared to be from a slightly older time (think like 50+ years back.) Their general temperament was fairly calm at first, but the longer they heard the echoes of the echo flowers the more agitated they became. Despite not being able to clearly communicate, they urged characters to go deeper into the forest away from the city and away from the flowers. While they couldn't answer specifically how they died the general sense was that something went wrong for them, and the one sentiment they could seemingly agree on is that the city grew too much and too quickly. Ghosts of a younger nature appeared to be confused and ghosts of older people looked rather downcast and weatherbeaten. One or two ghosts seemed of the opinion that their deaths may have been wrongful more than anything. In spite of this, the sense was that they loved Recollé even if they didn't all agree with the metropolis of a city it's become. They were more likely to flock and group together to follow those who were kind to them. Asking too many questions that they didn't wish to answer allowed their agitation to grow in the same way their agitation rose up from the echo flowers.

Following deeper into the woods there was a large thicket of trees. The ghosts seemed particularly thrilled and encouraged Ritsu to follow through the passage, as the other clear message was that escaping ws a good idea. However, following their instructions meant unexplainably looping back around to the start of the forest and the upset wails of the ghosts rose up even when the ghosts themselves didn't automatically follow.

👻 The above situation also occurred for Sorey, along with the additional discovery that the ghosts highly value family.

June 2017 👻 Discovered by Chloe and Leo Valdez after a break-in to the history museum, a stack of photos from the city's early founding years were found in a locked cabinet in the archives room. These photos were of a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the Towers, pictures of the first Founder's day (back when there was only one founder known to the city), pictures of housing developments going up in Viea Village, and most importantly, undercover photos of the development of the Retrospec building. These photos were be a bit obscure, but it's clear that the project was being done in the evening and bit by bit. Strangely, there was no construction equipment found in these photos, just the progress to get to the Retrospec building as it appears today.

Finally, the file also contained what looks like a few dried up palm leaves.

July 2017 👻 Discovered by the city at large, a large monster appeared on the ocean floor and drained the seawater entirely, leaving behind the sand. Citizens found they could not cross the sand after a certain point and the monster disappeared.

August 2017 👻 A group discovered the names of the four founders of Recollé. These names are: Clarence Vanderweele, Philip Spinnato, Georgia Mahoney, and Myrtle Cavendish. A member of this group also wrote a document of her findings. (As told to Team Absinthe during August's event.)

👻 Mr. Baroque, Head of Security, made reference to the fact that Retrospec is moving in a new direction as opposed to how the company used to operate. (As told to Team Brandywine during August's event.)

👻 Ronnie, the ferryman, provided a team of adventurers with an older map of the subway system that shows how the system used to spread far throughout the city before the tracks were closed down. (As told to Team Cognac during August's event.)

👻 Maurice Fitzwilliam, the intern, provided a team with key information: "When people forget, their soul sort of slips out of place. At that time, they become their own little twist of unreality, and need to be rewritten a little in order not to unbalance everything." (As told to Team Daiquiri during August's event.)

👻 Wendy Guo, the archivist, provided a team with key information: the books the team found were records of the dead from dead worlds that couldn't be saved. Once the last person from a world is dead, the entire world itself is dead. (As told to Team Ethanol during August's event.)

👻 A team discovered piles and piles of maps showing that the city of Recollé used to be much bigger, that other cities existed at one time, and several of these maps also included the blue Retrospec logo indicating there may be more than one facility. They also found a note with an exchange. Though there are no names in this exchange, the general sense of the message is that Retrospec's going off-track and hopefully the new general management working at the facility in Recollé will be able to stabilize the world before it goes the way of the rest of the worlds; destroyed and forgotten. (As discovered by Team Peter Pan during August's event.)

👻 A group discovered foul play from several years ago of a nurse who poisoned two children to put an end to one of the Founding Families. They also found a contract signed by a C. Vanderweele. This contract outlined a building permit and terms and conditions for using land in the city of Recollé to build a company called Retrospec. They found original blueprints for the building and noticed that Retrospec is much larger than it appears, several stories in both directions and countless rooms. They found that there are certain mechanisms in place for removing stairs and doors and walls and that the building itself actually spreads pretty far over the city. (As discovered by Team Snow White during August's event.)

👻 A group found a large royal scroll and upon unraveling they found the family crests of four families, though the names appeared to be obscured. A wolf, a rabbit, a fish and a bear were featured on these crests as well in respective order. In addition they found several newspaper articles about the decline of the population in Recollé and the confirmed deaths/supposed ends of several prominent families. The Unreality obscured these names, but they found a letter inscribed to C. Vanderweele as well with information about all going according to plan and preserving the planet as it is. This letter discussed the fact that Retrospec has completed settling its roots and that they are in the interview process now to ensure that things will go according to plan to rebuild as they need to. (As discovered by Team Tarzan during August's event.)

👻 A group discovered several research files in a language they could not read. It was said that the research is about the rebirth of worlds and how preserving life from planets lost can help regrow them. Though planets may be destroyed, if even one specimen from a planet can be recovered and start to regain ties to those worlds, they can begin to take root and start over.

In addition, they found information about something labeled "The Recollé Project" with a map of the city. Surina the sphinx confirmed that the memories, items, and abilities the people of the city are getting truly belong to them. It isn't so much a reincarnation as it is a reconstruction project, bringing forth buried information. (As told to Team Yzma during August's event.)

October 2017 👻 A forest bunker appears after a long journey through a labyrinth connected to the Retrospec building. The bunker itself has a Retrospec logo on the doors and though it's not the clean, state of the art appearance of the building in Tisse the layout is fairly familiar. There's a receptionist desk but instead of a computer there appears to be a typewriter. A rotary telephone also sits on the desk, but the line seems to be out of order. Dust and cobwebs are thick in the corners of the room and there are a handful of doors in a small hallway that appear to be unlocked. Specifically, there are four doors, two on either side of the hall with four certain animals on each: a wolf, a rabbit, a bear, and a koi fish.

Each room appears to have a certain aesthetic to it, but on one wall in each room there sits a large chart and a contract. The chart contains a list of names, family members all sharing last names but no way of separating how these family members are connected. The contract, however, explains the following in full detail:

Clarence Vanderweele, Georgia Mahoney, Phillip Spinnato and Myrtle Cavendish will embark on a venture to begin saving worlds that are being destroyed across the universe. They will organize rescue teams to scout various worlds and collect "seeds", though what this entirely means isn't made clear. These seeds will then be brought to a safe haven to foster and grow to preserve the worlds while the four founders of the city design the new universe.

There is also a copy of the Retrospec contract signed by Vanderweele, a company designed on reflection and retrospection. The contract outlines the mission of Retrospec as a whole, which is to monitor the stability of the breaking universe, save as many worlds as possible, and regrow the populations.

And finally, with a little digging, explorers may find a copy of a formal letter addressed to Vanderweele tucked under the typewriter itself. Outlined in the letter are the original goals of the Founders, along with a subnote:

Due to the unspeakable acts caused by you and your hand in the demise of Phillip's family line, by order we declare that you are no longer fit for this operation. You will be held in a facility elsewhere to await for sentencing.

Our operation began as a preservation of life, not simply your own. We will begin restructuring to undo the damage immediately.

Residents are free to come and go from the bunker as often as they please. Nothing will change about the setting, and any time someone tries to remove artefacts from the building they will be returned to their rightful positions. The walk back to the city from the woods may take a few hours, but it seems as though it's the only way back after all.

November 2017 👻 After some digging, a citizen of the city discovered some more information on the family lines of Vanderweele and Spinnato and how the two families tied in to one another.

👻 The Retrospec building has disappeared and been replaced by the Wiffle-Waffle waffle house. There is also a new Retrospec mailbox where characters may pick up items by returning tickets mailed to them.

February 2018 👻 Discovered by a group in Respatrum.
