For example, if your character falls off of a short ledge in the city, they may suddenly remember a much higher fall from a national monument that occurred in their canon. Another example may be that Cloud Strife visits a flower shop and speaks with Zack Fair. As they chat, one (or both) of them remember that they knew a girl named Aerith who sold flowers on the street. While we ask that you thread enough of an interaction out that we can judge whether or not you can be rewarded the regain, please keep in mind you should not have your character recollect anything without mod approval of a regain.
You do not have to regain memories right away even if your character performs actions that would trigger these regains. For instance, even if your character rides a skateboard around the city, it may take them several weeks of performing this action before they regain a memory that they used to skateboard along the sidewalks of another world. No matter when you regain it, a trigger will be necessary for a regain to happen.
Not entirely sure how to trigger regains or what to do next? Check out our guide for more information, how regains work, and examples.
As a note, for characters from ongoing canons or canons that receive new installments (such as books or video games), we ask that memories from these new segments of your canon be regained after a two-month wait period. Anything already established is fair game for a regain. We also ask that the last comment on any submitted thread be no more than two weeks old at the time of submission.
While we vastly prefer that you regain all of your canon memories first, there are instances in which we will allow headcanon memories. These cases have very distinct guidelines and we will ask for source information and carefully read each regain submission before approval. We understand there are cases in characters’ canons where events happen but the events themselves are not detailed. For instance, you may know that your character received a scar from an animal while attempting to trap it, but the setting and such isn’t entirely clear. This is an instance in which we would allow you to write up a small headcanon memory to claim.
We will not be accepting headcanon memories that have zero canonical back-up and would not apply to displaying how the character has grown or been shaped in their canon. An example of this is a character may be an alcoholic in their canon, but it would not be acceptable to headcanon a memory regain that they’ve displayed violence against their loved ones without a canon source (for example, another character in their canon has mentioned these qualities.) Please keep this in mind when applying for headcanon memories.
Starting in January 2019, players will have the ability to opt in to how memories are received. By opting in to sensory experiences, the modteam will write up a special little addition for how your character's memories will come to them. This may be a vision, a kind of dream, a scent, a hallucination, etc. This will also apply for items/abilities.
Once a month, players may now buy back one memory that they may not be able to trigger otherwise nor obtain through the use of freebies. The memories bought back via points would not be eligible for your AC-qualifying memory, and the points value would depend on the size/type/significance of the memory. The values would be similar to 100 points for smaller memories, 150 points for larger memories, 200 for even larger memories and so on and so forth.
Remember that the mods will read the thread linked as proof of the memory regain before issuing approval, and we may deny the request if there isn't enough basis for the memory. We ask that players do not proceed in threads as though they regained a memory until they have approval, though you may continue your thread sans memory until you've gotten approval.
Please fill out the following form and put MEMORY in the comment header. Please only submit one regain request per comment; you may submit as many requests at one time as you like, but they must be in separate comments.
CHARACTER: Please use your character's canon name.

During AC, players will be asked to notate how many points they would like to claim for their character for the given AC period. There is no limit to how many points can be claimed. While bonus points are tallied at the end of each AC period, reclaims on items and powers can be made at any point in the month. However, new points may only be redeemed from monthly comments which are already frozen. For example, you may redeem points from February's posts in March, but you may not redeem points from February's posts in February until AC has closed. As a special note, players can also choose to pool points together for certain game changes (please refer to world regains.) Players may not pool their points together to receive character-specific items. This rule only applies to changes for the whole game.
While special skills and items will need to be regained via points, every day skills can be regained via memory regains. For example, a general sense of sword-fighting can be regained via a memory. However, being the only or supernaturally best person who can wield a specific skill/talent in canon must be regained via item regains. A specific example would be the following: Naoto Shirogane can remember she is a detective via memory regain. However, Kyouko Kirigiri would need to purchase an ability regain to regain her title and master skill set of being SHSL Detective.
Once your item/ability regain has been approved by the modteam, your character will receive in the mail a ticket with a 20-digit number on them, with the Retrospec logo in the lower right-hand corner. Beneath the number is a very brief but truthfully accurate description of whatever item your character will be receiving. The return address is simply "Maurice Fitzwilliam, Mail Department". These tickets can be exchanged at the mailbox in front of Wiffle-Waffle for the item described or can be ignored as your character chooses. To redeem their items, characters will insert the ticket to the mail slot and an opening on the mailbox will deliver their item. For returns, the process is the same in which the opening of the mailbox will receive the item. For abilities characters will wake up the next morning (or any time of your choosing after the regain has been approved) with these abilities in-place.
In short, these requests are made OOCly and your character ICly won't know what they're receiving until they hear from Retrospec or wake up. Have fun!

A change in eye color (if your character’s eyes do not have other abilities)- 80 points
A change in hair color - 100 points
Acquisition of fangs - 100 points
110-150 points: This is your bracket for further abilities and lower specifics that mostly effect your character or only have minor impact on others. This includes minor-level abilities that only affect your character such as gravity or low-level magic, low-level resonance, telepathy in which you can hear the thoughts of NPCs (or PCs with the player's consent) for a few minute a day, invisibility that applies for one minute a day, medium-sized non-magical weapons, more specialty-leveled swords and weapons with magical properties (such as wands), small motorized vehicles like a motorcycle or moped, larger animals such as horses, small summons with more capabilities, sword proficiency (for purchase if you don’t want to memory regain the basic skills), connections to specific world power sources, minor upgrades to abilities already purchased, fluency in new languages and physical changes such as physique-alterations for non-athletic characters or minor scars from injuries that could reasonably occur such as stab wounds or gunshot wounds.

Fluency in real languages: 150 points (includes fluent levels of writing, reading, speaking, understanding.)
Minor scars from injuries that could reasonably occur such as stab wounds or gunshot wounds: 100-150 depending on size and severity
160-180 points: This bracket will allow you to redeem higher skill upgrades, weapons with varying forms, supernatural abilities such as being able to see and speak to ghosts, low-level abilities with caps in-place, athletic prowess (level of an assassin), etc.
200-250 points: This bracket will allow you to redeem abilities such as super strength, super speed, teleportation, creatures such as Chocobos, magical girl familiars without the ability to help characters transform, slightly larger summons, larger weapons such as spears, specialized powers on a low scale, prosthetic limbs/changes in limbs, larger scars and scars via non-standard means, pieces of outfits such as superhero costumes with special abilities built in (think Tony Stark’s gloves from his Iron Man suit, rocket-packs, etc.), or an upgrade to any abilities you’ve already claimed.
250 points: This bracket will allow you to redeem very specific higher-end skills that mostly impact your character's abilities such as Aura (RWBY-specific) or alterations of the soul similar to such, assassination skills.
300-400 points: This bracket will allow you to redeem large specialty weapons (Keyblades, Mjolnir, etc.), Homestuck sylladexes (10 item maximum), full special outfits or gear, advanced upgrades to abilities, the ability to cast very strong magic or the ability to summon large creatures (i.e. Personas with some of their base skills or summons from the FF series), Pokémon with their base skills, specialty abilities such as higher-end healing or element-bending, and minor alterations such as horns, elf ears, etc.
Of note:
Keyblades: 300 points
Sylladexes: 300 points
Horns: 300 points
Pokémon: 300-400 points depending on the Pokémon and its skills
Persona: 350-400 points depending on Persona and its skills
400-450 points: This bracket will allow you to redeem high-level alteration abilities such as lower levels of regeneration/rapid healing, abilities that impact the area around your character such as time travel/manipulation, changes in a character’s physiology, larger alterations such as wings, non-human traits such as tails, fur, robotic forms, forms that change a character's physiology (divinity, etc.) and others. This is also your bracket for regaining tattoos with magical properties such as the Dark Mark from Harry Potter or the airbender tattoos from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Please note, we will be handling tattoos/marking on a case by case basis and may request a different amount depending on the nature of markings.
450 points and beyond: Please talk to the modteam and we will work with you! This is your bracket for very canon-specific high-end abilities, alterations, etc.
Please note: we will inform you if we would like to downgrade certain powers/creatures to fit the tone of the game and give you the option if you would like to proceed with this reclaim. If your character has memories associated with someone else's regain, the character the regain most applies to would need to reclaim the item/magical property before it's usable in game. For instance, if a Death Eater such as Draco Malfoy were in-game, he can regain the Dark Mark and the memory of what it does/what it represents. However, Lord Voldemort would have to not only regain the Dark Mark himself but also regain the ability to use it to control his followers before Draco and other Death Eaters would be able to feel the burn and be summoned with this mark.
We also may ask that you either downscale your item or cash in more points for an item you choose if we feel certain items have a higher rate than others.
Should your character have several skills to regain (a lot of magical abilities, a lot of special attacks, etc.), we are willing to discuss a bulk-pricing with you! Please talk to us regarding this sort of instance.
We do ask that players be mindful of how many memory regains they are getting from one thread, and would prefer the hard limit be three per thread, in regards to back-and-forth memory chains and the like.
As a friendly reminder, please submit all memories and item regains in separate comments (one memory or one item/ability/appearance regain per comment!) This way it's easier for all of us to keep track of what's been quoted and regained over the course of the game.
On that note, keep in mind that the more items you claim and the more often you claim them, the more you help not only to rebuild canon worlds but impact and shape the current world around you!
Memory Regains
In the city of Recollé, people will begin interacting with one another and through these interactions they will receive strains of their old life in the form of memory flashes. When a character engages with the setting or with another character (via either in-person, Retrospec, or IC inbox interaction) in a fashion that is similar to something in their own canon, they have the option of receiving a memory reclaim.

So what about things related to those memories? You can earn those back through the use of bonus points! The following are examples that can be used for trading in activity points to serve as a guideline at the time of submission.
